For foreign students considering a U.S. nursing career
In the United States, The National Council of State Boards of Nursing is the governing body that sets the standards for obtaining licensure to practice as a nurse. Guidelines are in place that is used to determine if licensure should be granted to individuals. The licensure process includes determination that an individual meets the necessary qualifications to practice.
The licensure requirements differ from state to state. For that reason, we suggest that you contact the Board of Nursing in the state where you wish to practice to verify its licensure requirements.
CGFNS International is an organization recognized by The National Council of State Boards of Nursing as an authority on credentials evaluation pertaining to the education, registration and licensure of nurses and other health care professionals worldwide. To begin the licensure process in the United States you should visit their website.
It is also necessary to obtain a visa (temporary or permanent) in order to legally work in the United States. Detailed information regarding visa applications and policies should be obtained from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). You may check their web site.

Once the credentialing process is completed, we recommend that you attend a NCLEX® Review course with READY TO PASS.

We have been tremendously successful at preparing foreign trained nurses to pass the exam. The NCSBN statistical analysis show that in 2008, First time, internationally educated nurses passed the NCLEX® RN exam 45.6 % of the time. The internationally trained repeat test takers rate decreased to 24.5%. The PN rates are 44.9% and 22.9% respectively.
At READY TO PASS we train you in understanding the format that you will encounter. In the international community tests are administered using a recall (memory) or essay format. The NCLEX® exam requires application of the knowledge gained during nursing education. This in many cases is different than what you are used to. The individualized attention that we offer will guide you successfully through the process.
